Overview
Why this matters on board.
Every flag state publishes its own medical-chest requirement: the MCA's MSN 1768 for UK-flagged vessels, the IMO MSC.1/Circ.1408 baseline, the Liberian and Marshall Islands medical lists, the Dutch ILT scheme. The categories overlap but the SKU lists, controlled-drug schedules, and inspection regimes do not.
SurviMed builds your medical chest to the exact list of your flag state, including the controlled drugs schedule, the antibiotic course matrix, and the IV fluid requirement for vessels with a designated medical attendant. The chest arrives sealed, with a printed manifest, individual expiry tracking, and the relevant medical guide.
Annual replenishment is included: we audit the chest on a scheduled port call, replace expired items, refresh the controlled-drug log, and re-seal. The vessel's ISM documentation is updated automatically and copied to your DPA.

FAQ
What buyers ask about Ship's Medical Chest.
Got a question we haven't covered? Email sales@survimed.com and we'll come back within one working day.
Which flag states do you configure chests for?
All major flags including UK (MCA), Netherlands (ILT), Liberia, Marshall Islands, Panama, Bahamas, Malta, Singapore, Norway (NMA), Denmark (DMA) and the IMO baseline list. If your flag isn't listed, send us the medical guide and we'll quote.
How are controlled drugs handled?
Controlled drugs (CDs) are supplied sealed in a separate compartment with a serial-numbered register. We provide the legally-required CD log book pre-filled with opening balances. The Master remains the legal custodian; we handle replenishment under documented chain of custody.
What happens at the annual inspection?
A SurviMed technician boards in port (or audits remotely with the medical officer over video). Every item is checked against the flag-state list, expired items are replaced from the technician's stock, the CD register is reconciled, and a signed audit report is filed in the vessel's ISM system.
Do you handle reflagging?
Yes — reflagging is one of our most common engagements. We compare the existing chest against the new flag's medical guide, draft a gap analysis, supply the differential equipment and documentation, and re-seal. Most reflags are completed in a single port call.
