Overview
Why this matters on board.
Medical oxygen is the single most important consumable in any maritime medical chest. From acute respiratory distress to post-resuscitation care, every minute of supplemental oxygen at the right flow rate measurably improves outcomes — and crews far from shore have no second chance to source it.
SurviMed supplies pre-configured oxygen sets with cylinders, regulators, masks and bag-valve resuscitators sized for the role: a primary set for the ship's hospital, secondary sets for each lifeboat and rescue boat, and portable bottles for MOB and helicopter handover. Every cylinder is sourced direct from MED-approved manufacturers with full chain of custody and individual serial numbers logged against the vessel.
We refill, hydrostatic-test and re-certify your existing cylinders through a worldwide service network — Rotterdam, Hamburg, Singapore, Houston and beyond — so nothing expires unnoticed. Annual servicing reports are filed with your ISM documentation.

FAQ
What buyers ask about Medical Oxygen.
Got a question we haven't covered? Email sales@survimed.com and we'll come back within one working day.
Is medical oxygen on board mandatory under SOLAS?
Yes. SOLAS Chapter III and the IMO MSC.1/Circ.1408 (Ship's Medicine Chest) make medical oxygen a required item for any vessel carrying crew. The exact quantity, cylinder size and replacement schedule depend on flag state, route and crew complement — we configure to your specific ship's medical guide.
How often do oxygen cylinders need to be inspected?
Most flag states require an annual visual inspection by a competent person, plus a hydrostatic pressure test every 5–10 years (varies by cylinder material and country of registration). We track the cycle for every cylinder we deliver and notify you ahead of expiry.
Where can SurviMed refill cylinders worldwide?
We operate through a partner network in every major port — Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg, Singapore, Fujairah, Houston, Cape Town and dozens more. If your fleet calls a port that's not on our standard list, contact us with the schedule and we will arrange supply.
What cylinder sizes do you supply?
Standard offerings are 2 L portable for MOB / lifeboat, 5 L and 10 L for the ship's hospital, and twin-pack manifold installations for offshore platforms. Bespoke sizing for installation in dedicated medical lockers is available on request.
