Overview
Why this matters on board.
A lifejacket is the most personal piece of equipment on board, and the easiest one to neglect. UV degradation, salt corrosion of the inflation cylinder, perished webbing — none of it shows on a casual visual check, and all of it matters when somebody is in the water at night.
SurviMed supplies SOLAS / MED-approved adult, oversize and child lifejackets, complete with retro-reflective tape, light, whistle and lifting becket. We hold stock for fleet replacement and ship to any port. Bulk pricing for full-fleet refresh is available — particularly relevant for vessels approaching the 5-year inflation cylinder service interval.
Annual service is included: light battery test, whistle check, webbing inspection, oral-tube valve test, and inflation-cylinder weight check (to detect leaks below the visual threshold). Service is documented per-jacket with serial numbers and filed in the vessel's safety records.

FAQ
What buyers ask about SOLAS Lifejackets.
Got a question we haven't covered? Email sales@survimed.com and we'll come back within one working day.
What's the difference between SOLAS and recreational lifejackets?
SOLAS lifejackets are tested to far higher standards: minimum 150 N buoyancy for adults (often 275 N for offshore), self-righting an unconscious wearer in seconds, and resistant to fuel and saltwater for prolonged immersion. Recreational PFDs are not acceptable for commercial vessels.
How often must lifejackets be serviced?
Most flag states require an annual visual / functional service plus a 5-year inflator-cylinder hydrostatic test on inflatable models. SurviMed handles both on a fleet schedule, with serialised records.
Do you supply child sizes?
Yes — child lifejackets (less than 32 kg) and infant lifejackets (less than 15 kg) are stocked. Required ratio is typically 10 percent of total complement on passenger vessels, but we configure to your operation.
Can old lifejackets be re-certified or do they need replacing?
Up to a point, yes — we re-certify foam jackets where webbing, light and whistle pass inspection. Beyond ~10 years foam degradation is the limit. Inflatable jackets typically reach end-of-life at the second 5-year service. We will tell you which fall in which bucket.
